Schwood Sax

Schwood Sax is an accomplished saxophonist whose musical journey began at the age of three on the piano. By 13, the saxophone had become the instrument of choice, and by 18, Grade 8 exams in both instruments were completed with high distinction through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

At 17, Schwood earned a place at the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music, where both jazz and classical styles were studied intensively. During this formative period, Schwood performed alongside jazz legends such as Johnny Dankworth and Peter King, gaining invaluable experience and mentorship.

Further studies followed at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA)—founded by Sir Paul McCartney—with a special focus on jazz. Under the guidance of renowned saxophonist Ian Dixon (known for his work with Michael Brecker and Sting), Schwood refined both technique and performance artistry to a professional standard.

Now a full-time session musician, Schwood Sax performs across the UK and internationally. From luxury weddings and high-profile corporate events to club nights and private parties, Schwood delivers unforgettable performances—ranging from function bands to high-energy DJ live sets.

Known for seamlessly blending live saxophone with dance music, Schwood brings Ibiza-style energy to every stage, creating a powerful connection with audiences and a dancefloor that never stands still.

Regular appearances include some of London’s most exclusive venues, such as The Arts Club in Mayfair, frequented by celebrities like David Beckham, Graham Norton, and Nicole Scherzinger. Schwood Sax is also the resident saxophonist for football legend Steven Gerrard, performing at his private events in Liverpool and Portugal for over five years.
