Biography

Lord Strange came together in 2011, comprising members skilled in fiddle, guitar, and accordion. Quickly gaining traction, they established themselves as a successful act in London and beyond. Infusing jazz, classical, and gypsy influences into their high-energy folk performances, they clinched the top spot at Bath Folk Festival's New Shoots competition the following year.

Recent accomplishments include securing airtime on BBC radio in anticipation of their debut album. Lord Strange now boasts regular appearances at esteemed folk festivals like Cambridge and Bath, as well as performances at various venues nationwide. They are in high demand for events, with recent clients including the Royal Horticultural Society and private individuals.

In addition to their original folk-inspired compositions, Lord Strange showcases a diverse repertoire spanning traditional tunes from England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, alongside selections from Appalachia, Scandinavia, the Balkans, and beyond.

Book Lord Strange for concerts, background music at events or ceremonies, or as the featured band for ceilidhs and barn dances. For dancing events, they can provide a caller to lead and teach the steps for each dance.

 

Set List

Lord Strange have a vast traditional tune repertoire and perform tunes from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland as well as from America, Scandinavia, the Balkans and elsewhere.

Requests can be made and arrangements can be written very easily.  For example, we have performed our own versions of popular music such as 'Irish Rover' by the Pogues, 'Gabriel' by Lamb and 'Paint the Moon' by The Czars. We also have an extensive repertoire of our own original music which is very popular at events.
